Antonio Mohamed has used a striking statistic to reaffirm his commitment to Toluca. The Argentine coach, in charge of the Scarlet Devils since December 2024, revealed he has faced 60 different Liga MX managers in that time.

At a press conference ahead of the next fixture, Mohamed firmly denied rumors of a pre-agreed move to an Argentine club. "All those coaches have come and gone, and I'm still on the Toluca bench," stated the manager. He insisted he has no agreement with any other institution and that his only intention, should he leave, would be to take a break. "If I leave Toluca, it's to rest, not for anything else," he said.

A landscape of change

The figure presented by Mohamed shows the volatility on Mexican league benches. Since his arrival, clubs like Puebla have had five coaches, while Santos Laguna, Atlético de San Luis, Cruz Azul, Monterrey, León, Pachuca, and Necaxa have each gone through four. Other teams like Chivas, Atlas, Tijuana, Pumas, Tigres, and Juárez have seen three managers in the same period.

The coach declared himself happy at the club and focused on immediate objectives. Toluca leads the Liga MX general table with 20 points from 10 games, from six wins, two draws, and two defeats. Their next test is an away trip to 15th-placed Tigres UANL this Saturday, October 10th.

Mohamed acknowledged that every football cycle ends but denied any decision has been made regarding his future. His focus is on finishing the tournament strongly and preparing the team for its participation in December's Intercontinental Cup. With a squad that has scored 23 goals this season, the team will look to bounce back from the recent loss to Monterrey (2-1) and solidify their top spot. The squad list and player stats are available on squad and stats.

The coach also spoke about the team's recent form, stating the goal is to maintain consistency. Toluca has averaged 2.3 goals per game in the league this season, but their performance over the last five matches shows a slight variation with two wins, two draws, and one loss. Mohamed emphasized the importance of improving effectiveness in goal-scoring minutes, an area where the team has created numerous chances but failed to finish in key moments. The squad, according to the coach, is working specifically on concentration and precision in the final third to convert more opportunities and secure three points.
