Antonio Mohamed has sparked concern at Toluca by openly discussing a return to Argentine football. The Argentine manager's contract with the Red Devils expires in December, and no extension talks have been formalized, leaving his future uncertain.

Known as 'El Turco', Mohamed gave an interview during a visit to Argentina on the recent FIFA break. "I miss everything. But the time to return is getting closer," he said. "I see myself returning to Argentine football and I long for it to happen, at some point it will be."

Current Stance

Despite his comments, Mohamed stressed he is currently very happy at Toluca. "I am very well at the club, very happy, it's the best moment of my career, enjoying it," he explained. "We have won six trophies in a year and a half, everything you can win, it's unexpected but when you hit a good streak you have to enjoy it and stretch it as much as you can." The coach has no intention of forcing an exit.

His situation must be defined in the coming weeks by Toluca's board. Fans expect the sporting project to be ratified, a project that has led the team to first place in Liga MX with 20 points from 10 games. Recent form, however, shows some inconsistency with two wins, one draw, and two losses in the last five matches, including a 2-1 defeat to Monterrey on October 3.

Sporting Context

The team now prepares to visit Tigres UANL on October 10, an opponent sitting 15th in the table. Mohamed must manage this uncertainty while keeping the group focused on immediate objectives.

The Argentine manager, who has also coached Tijuana, América, and Monterrey in Mexico, made clear he seeks a project where he can "be happy and develop my idea." Meanwhile, Toluca enjoys what he describes as the sweetest moment of his career. The upcoming contractual decision will set the course for a club looking to solidify its lead at the top of the standings.
