Toluca fulfilled its challenge: lifting its third consecutive championship, now in the Concachampions 2026. Under the technical direction of Antonio 'El Turco' Mohamed, the Choricero squad defeated Tigres 6-5 in penalties. In regular time, they tied 1-1 at the Nemesio Diez Stadium. After ending their 15-year drought in 2025 with two consecutive Liga MX titles, the Mexican team also secured their ticket to the next Club World Cup. Toluca has 12 Liga MX titles, obtained in the seasons 1966-67, 1967-68, 1974-75, Verano 1998, Verano 1999, Verano 2000, Apertura 2002, Apertura 2005, Apertura 2008, Bicentenario 2010, Clausura 2025, and Apertura 2025. The club has 108 years of history and is one of the oldest in Mexico. Its history began in amateurism, but in 1950 it debuted in the professional circuit, registering in the 2nd Division and, in January 1953, ascending to 1st Division. Since then, it has reached 20 finals. Of them, it won 12 and was runner-up in the remaining eight. Today, it is four wins away from tying América, which has 16 titles. It also equalled Chivas, who has 12 titles in second place. Toluca also has two Concacaf Champions League titles, obtained in the seasons 1968 and 2003. Its first international crown arrived with a singularity, as Toluca did not need to play a final match and was named champion for having advanced to the final phase as the Champion of the North American Zone, but the Transvaal of Surinam (Champion of the Caribbean Zone), was disqualified for lineup irregularity in their semifinal against the Aurora of Guatemala, monarch of the Central American Zone. The second and last Concacaf title arrived in 2003 after dominating the Mexican league with four titles between 1998 and 2002, to play the final of the Concachampions against Monarcas Morelia, whom they defeated after two matches with a score of 5-4.
