Toluca's Marcel Ruiz underwent successful surgery for a partial anterior cruciate ligament rupture and medial meniscus injury. He will now begin his rehabilitation process under the supervision of the club's medical staff. Ruiz suffered the injury in the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinals against San Diego FC. Despite the injury, he returned to action in Liga MX on April 15, 2026, just 35 days after suffering the injury. However, coach Javier Aguirre decided not to include Ruiz in Toluca's Concacaf Champions Cup final win over Tigres UANL. Now, Ruiz will undergo surgery to treat his injury and begin his rehabilitation process.
